Born: 26 March 1960
Birthplace: N.Y.C, USA

Jennifer Grey is an American actress most known for her role as Frances "Baby" Houseman in the 1987 hit film Dirty Dancing. Grey was born in New York to actress Jo Wilder and Broadway actor/dancer/choreographer Joel Grey. Jennifer is also the granddaughter of famous musician and comedian Mickey Katz. As a child, Jennifer took both acting and dance lessons at an elite private school in Manhattan. This experience helped Jennifer get a start dancing in TV commercials including an ad for the Dr Pepper soft drink. Spending time at New York City's prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse led to an appearance in the off-Broadway production Album.

Grey made her film debut playing Cathy Bennario in the 1984 movie Reckless followed by small roles in Red Dawn and The Cotton Club. Two years later, she landed the role of Matthew Broderick's wild sister Jeanie in the 1986 hit comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It wasn't until this role that Jennifer knew success. This was followed with her best role ever, Frances Houseman alias "Baby" in Dirty Dancing. Jennifer's subsequent career failed to live up to its earlier promise and has demoted her to such fare as 1989's Bloodhounds of Broadway and made-for-tv films like 1996's Portraits of a Killer. Grey blames this failure on her decision to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure that negatively impacted upon her career.

Jennifer has recently starred as Daphne on the HBO series John from Cincinnati.
